About Behida Dolić

Entirely self-taught, Behida Dolić grew up in a small village in southern Bosnia, among kilim weavers and furniture builders, where “handmade” was a way of life. In 1998, after fleeing the Balkan War, she moved to the United States with her brother and two sisters.

After studying art in San Francisco and Florence, Italy, Behida eventually discovered her passion for millinery, and began her business with only one hat block and few millinery tools. That limitation propelled her to exercise her resourcefulness and creativity, enabled her to grow as an artist and entrepreneur and led her to build her successful brand. Today, she is based in the artistic community of Hudson, NY.

In 2018,
Behida expanded her brand with the introduction of the first Behida Dolić-designed women’s clothing, a small collection of dresses to complement her hats. The line was an instant success. In little more than one year, the Behida Dolić Millinery flagship store grew into a destination not only for hat lovers, but also for women seeking feminine, poetic maxi and midi dresses, tops, skirts, pants and jumpsuits.

Like her spectacular hats, all of Behida’s beautiful clothing carries the Behida Dolić Millinery label—a celebration of the singular history, artistry and passion of their creator.
